Features in Support Vector Machines

I am unclear what is a feature in support vector machines. Also in equation 2.34 I assume d is the dimensions in input space but unclear
what is nx.

Answer or follow-up question 1

Dear student,

A dimension in feature space is called a feature. A dimension in input space is called an input variable.

n subscript X is the dimensionality (number of variables) in X (input space)
n subscript F is the dimensionality (number of variables) in F (feature space)

d is the degree of the polynomial (not the dimensionality in input space).
